Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church Raleigh NC

Dear Family & Friends,

I recently had a friend from the hospital share with me a riddle. It goes like this: When do Doctors get upset? The answer is, when they run out of patients. In may ways that is true for all of us. However, we of course are referring to patience instead of patients.

I think for many of us, we are at a place in our lives where we are all ready and have been ready for our lives to get back to normal. Our patience is certainly wearing thin with having to stay home, staying away from each other and staying away from worship.

Patience however, is clearly one of the characteristics that we as the people of God are supposed to posses. Along with many of the other “Fruits of the Spirit” listed in Galatians 5, long suffering or patience is listed as one of the byproducts in which we have access, from the Spirit of God.

I can’t think of a time in my life when I have needed more patience than I do than right now. Like many of you, I am eager to resume our worship and eager resume our fellowship together. I am eager to see each other and eager to embrace each other.

However, I am also eager to be wise and eager to listen to God’s voice in the midst of this continued era in our lives. My request this week is that you join me and join the church’s leadership in prayer as we discern God’s voice and God’s wisdom. Pray that we may clearly see our task as we strive to do what is faithful and what is best for our church.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor John
