Friday Notes. May 8, 2020:
Dear Family & Friends,
As we enter into yet another Mother’s Day weekend, we are all familiar with the routine. We make this weekend special by offering gifts of flowers, candy and maybe a meal our moms do not have to prepare. We share with them how much we love them and appreciate all they do. All of which is very fitting and very warranted for who they are.
However, the hope is that this weekend is not the only time throughout the year that we honor our mothers and acknowledge the blessing they are in our lives. The fact is, it is much easier to honor them on birthdays, anniversaries or other special times. The challenge comes however, in living this way all the rest of the year, but the result will be not only appreciation for them, but in reality, a blessed life for us.
In fact, Exodus, 20:12, reminds is that as we honor our mothers and even our fathers there is a built in blessing for us and a promise that our lives will be better because of it.
Therefore, as people of faith, may we all strive to honor God, by honoring the ones who bless us and raise and help us become who will and have become. May we do this not just right now but at all times throughout the year.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor John
