Dear Family & Friends,
I am not positive, about this, but I believe it was the late Billy Graham who asked the question; what is the difference between the Bible and a Newspaper? The answer of course is that a Newspaper focuses on bad news, whereas the bible focuses on good news!
I believe he was exactly right! All we have to do, especially today, is read the newspaper, look at the cable news stations and all we see is bad news after bad news after bad news! The death count from the Corona Virus in many places is still rising and very little good news can be found anywhere. For many people it is enough to make us lose hope.
However, there is one place that good news can be found. And that is within the word of God that sustains us, encourages us and reminds us that even in the midst of all of this there is hope.
Read together with me Psalm 121, which reminds of the hope we have and where our hope comes from:
Psalm 121:1-8
I lift up my eyes to the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Friends, please be encouraged by this and know that God is ever present and always keeping watch over us; sustaining us as a church during this time.
