Luther G. Partin, Jr.

March 10, 1927 – February 7, 2018

Luther Graham Partin, Jr., 90, passed away on Wednesday. He was born to the late Luther Graham Partin, Sr. and Leola Grace Partin. Luther grew up in the Angier area. He served proudly in the Army during World War II. Upon returning home, Luther attended North Carolina State University to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. He married his sweetheart, Evelyn Grace Dupree on April 6, 1950 and they lived together in Sanford while he was a school instructor teaching agriculture. They had two children in Sanford before moving to Raleigh. He worked with the Wildlife Magazine as Editor and Photographer before he retired.

Luther was a longtime member of Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was true Wolfpack fan and attended games throughout his life.

The family will receive guests from 12:30 to 1:45 PM on February 12, 2018 at Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church, 4926 Fayetteville Rd. Raleigh, NC 27603. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 2:00 PM in the Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 South Wilmington St. Raleigh, NC 27603.

Survivors include his two sons, Napier Partin (Rhonda), Bifford Partin (Angie); four grandchildren, Adam Partin (Sheli), Kelly Massengill (Ryan), Kristin Partin, Jonathan Partin; one step-grandchild, Todd Atkinson (Robin), five great grandchildren, Addison and Aidan Partin, Savannah, Brayden and Eli Massengill; one step-great grandchild, Maci Atkinson; brother, Russell Partin; sister, Barbara Taylor (Jim); sister-in-law, Marquita Partin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his mother, father, wife; brother, Richard Partin; two sisters, Clarene Eason and Betty Jean Price.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC. Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
